04 Mar 24

Our Sentinel-class Maritime Security and Response Vessel, MSRV Guardian recently participated in the inaugural Multinational Group Sail led by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) from 26 Feb to 3 Mar 2024.

Following the Opening Ceremony held at RSS Singapura – Changi Naval Base, MSRV Guardian and the USCG's Legend-class National Security Cutter, USCGC Bertholf sailed towards Port Klang together with personnel from the Police Coast Guard (PCG) and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) embarked onboard. During the transit, both ships conducted a series of exercises including FLASHEX and BOARDEX. Upon reaching Port Klang, various activities such as Subject Matter Expert Exchanges were also conducted ashore.

The Opening Ceremony, held at RSS Singapura - Changi Naval Base, was attended by RSN personnel and participants from the USCG, PCG and MMEA.

Out at sea, both ships participated in a series of exercises including a Flashing Exercise (FLASHEX).

To enhance interaction, sea riders from the different agencies sailed on board both USCGC Bertholf (pictured here with Commanding Officer, CAPT William L. Mees) and MSRV Guardian during the sea phase of the exercise.

Our RSN personnel had an opportunity to participate in a Subject Matter Expert Exchange to share and learn more about the different practices in Fire Fighting and Damage Control. They were also joined by personnel from the Japanese Coast Guard (JCG) in Port Klang!

The inaugural Multinational Group Sail offered an opportunity for the RSN to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation with the PCG, USCG, MMEA and JCG, and we look forward to future exercises.
