Forging Close Bonds

17 Feb 20

"Singapore has given me much, and is a place that I call home. Naturally, I want to do my part to protect my country and loved ones." - SV1 Nathaniel Santos

SV1 Nathaniel joined the SAF Volunteers Corps (SAFVC) in 2016. He often shares his SAFVC experiences with his family and hopes to inspire his children - three boys and one girl - to have the same commitment that he has for national defence.

Through his deployments as a bridge watchkeeper, SV1 Nathaniel forged close bonds with the crew on board. "Personally, I've learnt a lot from them. We are just like a close-knit family. They know that we are not as experienced as them, so they keep a lookout for us, and assimilate us as one family," he shares.

The SAFVC is celebrating their 5th anniversary this year. We thank all those who have stepped up to the call and joined our Navy family. We are sure that your family is proud of you, just like how your Navy family is proud of you too!
