Dr Zhou Yingxin

CITATION

Dr Zhou Yingxin, Head Engineering (Underground Facilities) from DSTA, pioneered efforts in developing research and engineering capabilities in rock cavern technology and underground ammunition storage safety for the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF). His work on the Underground Ammunition Facility and role in establishing new safety standards for underground ammunition storage have opened up a new frontier in space creation for Singapore. This has also led to significant land savings and freed up precious space for redevelopment.

Dr Zhou also extended his expertise in support of the Jurong Rock Caverns and other national initiatives in underground space use. His contributions have enhanced Singapore’s international standing as a leader in the innovative use of rock cavern space and underground explosive storage safety. In recognition of his outstanding achievements and contributions, Dr Zhou is awarded the DTP 2018 Individual (Engineering) Award.
