The Committee to Strengthen NS (CSNS) was convened to examine how the National Service (NS) system can be strengthened for the future. As part of CSNS recommendations to better recognise the contributions of our national servicemen and their families, MINDEF and MHA will be rolling out the National Service Excellence Award (NSEA), Celebratory Gifts for Operationally Ready National Servicemen (NSmen), and basic life and personal accident insurance coverage for our national servicemen. We will also be opening SAFRA Punggol, the sixth SAFRA clubhouse, in 2016.

National Service Excellence Award and Celebratory Gifts for NSmen

National Service Excellence Award. To better recognise NSmen who have performed well during their Operationally-Ready National Service training, the Family Recognition Voucher (FRV) scheme will be enhanced and renamed the National Service Excellence Award (NSEA). NSmen whose call-ups end on or after 1 Apr 2016 will be eligible for the NSEA. The eligibility and benefits of the NSEA scheme are shown in Table 1.
