The Chief of the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) Air Vice-Marshal (AVM) Michael Yardley called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this morning. AVM Yardley, who is in Singapore for an introductory visit from 10 to 12 November 2015, also called on Chief of Defence Force Major-General (MG) Perry Lim and Chief of Air Force MG Hoo Cher Mou, after inspecting a Guard of Honour. AVM Yardley visited Sembawang Air Base yesterday.
AVM Yardley's visit underscores the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and New Zealand. The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and the RNZAF interact regularly through multilateral exercises like Exercise Pitch Black, professional exchanges, and cross-attendance of courses. Both air forces also interact under the ambit of the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA). These extensive interactions have enhanced the interoperability between the two air forces, as well as the professional rapport and ties between their personnel.
