The RSAF Participates in the Avalon Airshow 2015

From 24 February to 1 March 2015, the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) will participate in the 12th Australian International Airshow and Aerospace & Defence Exposition. The event, which is also known as the Avalon Airshow 2015, is held at Avalon Airport in Victoria, Australia. The RSAF is participating with three F-16C fighter aircraft, two Super Puma helicopters and two PC-21 trainer aircraft. The Chief of Air Force of the RSAF, Major-General (MG) Hoo Cher Mou, attended the opening ceremony of the Avalon Airshow and met the Chief of Air Force of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), Air Marshal (AM) Geoff Brown earlier today.

Prior to the Avalon Airshow 2015 on 21 February 2015, the F-16C fighter aircraft also participated in a flypast during the Last Post Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. The flypast was held in remembrance of the Australians who fought and died in Singapore during World War II. The Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory, Mr Andrew Barr, together with MG Hoo, AM Brown and senior officers from the RSAF and the Australian Department of Defence, were present at the ceremony.

The RSAF's participation in the Avalon Airshow 2015 underscores the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Australia. Since 2008, the RAAF has participated with its aerobatics team and aircraft in the static and aerial displays of the Singapore Airshow. The excellent defence ties between both air forces are also evident through regular interactions across a broad spectrum of activities, which includes professional exchanges, cross-attendance of courses and the RSAF's participation in Exercise Pitch Black, a multilateral exercise hosted by the RAAF.
