Crown Prince of Brunei Visits the SAF's Multi-Mission Range Complex

Second Minister for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing hosted His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office of Brunei Darussalam, to a visit to the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF)'s Multi-Mission Range Complex (MMRC) this morning. His Royal Highness is on a five-day official visit to Singapore from 1 to 5 Sep 2014 at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean under the Singapore-Brunei Young Leaders' Programme. Also present during the visit were Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) Brigadier General Yussof Rahman, and Chief of Army Major-General Perry Lim.

During the visit to MMRC, His Royal Highness viewed live-firing demonstrations at the 50m indoor shooting range and the urban operations range, and also fired the Singapore Assault Rifle 21. As part of the programme, His Royal Highness drove the upgraded Light Strike Vehicle Mark-II (LSV MK II) and also viewed a static display of the Skyblade III Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. To commemorate the visit, His Royal Highness was presented with the SAF's Honorary Advanced Combat Skills Badge and an Honorary LSV MK II Driver's License.

His Royal Highness' visit to the SAF underscores the special and long-standing defence relationship between Singapore and Brunei. The SAF and RBAF interact regularly through a wide range of activities such as bilateral exercises, regular visits and professional exchanges. The Army and the RBLF will mark the 20th anniversary of their flagship bilateral Exercise Maju Bersama in Brunei next April.
