The newly appointed Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Chief General (GEN) Dato' Sri Haji Roslan Bin Saad called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence this morning. GEN Roslan had earlier called on Chief of Air Force Major-General Hoo Cher Mou after inspecting the Guard of Honour. As part of his introductory visit to Singapore from 7 to 8 October 2014, GEN Roslan will visit the Flight Simulator Centre, the Changi Regional Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Coordination Centre (RHCC) as well as attend the opening ceremony of Exercise Bersama Lima 2014, a Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) exercise. The exercise is hosted by Singapore this year from 7 to 21 October 2014.
GEN Roslan's visit underscores the warm and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Malaysia. The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and the RMAF interact regularly in a range of activities, including professional exchanges, courses and multilateral exercises such as those under the ambit of the FPDA. Of note, RSAF and RMAF fighter aircraft have been operating out of each other's air bases during FPDA exercises since 2013. These interaction shave enhanced mutual understanding and friendship between the personnel of the two air forces. Both air forces, together with those of Indonesia and Thailand, also conduct the Eyes in the Sky combined maritime air patrols to enhance maritime security in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore.
