Senior Minister of State for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing officiated at the 4th Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Senior Military Expert Appointment Ceremony at SAFTI Military Institute this evening. 31 servicemen were appointed as Military Experts 4 during the ceremony. The graduating cohort comprised 9 from the Army, 13 from the Republic of Singapore Air Force, 4 from the Republic of Singapore Navy and 5 from the Joint Service.
During the speech, Mr Chan urged the Military Experts to continue to learn and to innovate. Addressing the graduands, he said, "The mark of our success is not our ability to solve yesterday's problems. The mark of our success is our ability to pre-empt tomorrow’s challenges."
The Military Domain Experts Course (MDEC) is a professional milestone qualification course designed for personnel to be appointed to the senior rank of Military Experts 4 in their respective military domains. This allows military experts from different career tracks to take on jobs where in-depth expertise is required. The training conducted during the MDEC enables the Military Experts to develop their leadership competencies, deepen their military domain knowledge and hone their specialisation skills. Following the appointment ceremony, they will move on to assume command or staff appointments in their professional areas.
Also present at the ceremony were Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Neo Kian Hong, Chief of Navy Rear-Admiral Ng Chee Peng, and other senior SAF officers, as well as families and friends of the graduands.
