Response to TODAY Forum Letter on "Water conservation - start with our men in green"

The SAF will continue to explore ways to conserve water

We thank Mr Lim Chan Leng for his feedback in the forum letter on 7 Jul 2011 titled "Water conservation - start with our men in green".

As Mr Lim has pointed out in his letter, training safety is of paramount importance to the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). It is important that we provide adequate water for our servicemen to properly hydrate themselves while undergoing physical and outfield training. Unconsumed water after the completion of training activities will be used in other ways where practical in the field, like washing field equipment and vehicles. The water will only be discarded after all the possible means of usage are exhausted as containers have to be emptied before storage.

The SAF recognises that water is a scarce resource and will continue to remind our servicemen on the importance of water conservation.
