The SAF Adjusts Activities According to Haze Situation
9 October 2026
The health and safety of our service personnel are of paramount importance to the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) while ensuring operational readiness to safeguard Singapore.

The health and safety of our service personnel are of paramount importance to the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) while ensuring operational readiness to safeguard Singapore. MINDEF/SAF is closely monitoring the air quality, and has in place a set of Pollutant Standards Index (PSI)-Activity and 1-hour PM2.5-Activity Guidelines under the SAF Operations Directive and Training Safety Regulations to calibrate our outdoor activities and training according to the PSI reading and PM2.5 levels. The guidelines are consistent with the National Environment Agency’s advisories.
The SAF has further adjusted physical and outdoor activities to limit service personnel’s exposure to haze. Personnel are to avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical activities where possible and physical fitness tests have been moved indoors. Additional measures are taken for service personnel with existing medical conditions that could be aggravated by the haze, including issuance of N95 masks.
The SAF will continue to monitor the situation closely and make adjustments to the nature and intensity of outdoor activities accordingly while maintaining operational readiness to safeguard Singapore amid the haze situation.
Should the 24-hour PSI forecast exceed 300 or PM2.5 reading exceed 250μg/m³, the SAF will cancel all non-essential outdoor activities and service personnel will don N95 masks when performing essential outdoor duties.
