Partnerships Key to Strengthening Defence Supply Chain Resilience: MOS Desmond Choo at the 15th Seoul Defense Dialogue

Speaking at a plenary session on “Defense Industrial Ecosystem and Global Supply Chain Resilience”, MOS Choo highlighted the importance of international partnerships in strengthening defence supply chain resilience amid an increasingly uncertain and fragmented global environment. MOS Choo called for countries to deepen cooperation to build greater collective resilience. He said, “Securing our defence supply chains is a positive-sum effort; we are simply stronger together… By combining our collective strengths across leading technologies, expertise, and innovation ecosystems, we can turn our partnerships into a source of resilience.”
MOS Choo also outlined Singapore's efforts to strengthen its defence supply chains through closer defence industrial cooperation with longstanding partners, expanding defence technology cooperation with partners such as the ROK, and continuing to invest in Singapore's defence industry. MOS Choo said, “There is still considerable potential in our bilateral defence technology cooperation. Singapore looks forward to doing more with the ROK's defence agencies and companies, and with many of the countries present here today.”
On the sidelines of the SDD, MOS Choo had a courtesy call with ROK Vice Minister of National Defense Lee Doo-hee, where they reaffirmed the warm and friendly bilateral defence relations between Singapore and the ROK. They discussed ways to strengthen military-to-military exchanges and cooperation in defence technology, as well as multilateral cooperation at the ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting-Plus.
Organised by the ROK Ministry of National Defense annually, the SDD is a Track 1.5 forum for government officials and experts to discuss security issues in the Asia-Pacific. The theme of this year’s SDD is “Toward a New Coexistence in the Age of Turbulence”.
