Commander of the United States Pacific Fleet (US PACFLT), Admiral (ADM) Stephen Koehler called on Senior Minister of State for Defence Mr Zaqy Mohamad this morning. During their meeting, Mr Zaqy and ADM Koehler reaffirmed the excellent and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and the US. They also discussed regional geopolitical developments, as well as efforts to continue strengthening defence cooperation between both countries.
ADM Koehler is in Singapore from 3 to 7 May 2025 for his introductory visit, and will also speak at the 9th International Maritime Security Conference (IMSC). As part of his visit, ADM Koehler also called on Chief of Defence Force Vice Admiral (VADM) Aaron Beng and Chief of Navy Rear Admiral (RADM) Sean Wat.
ADM Koehler's visit highlights the strong partnership between the RSN and the US Navy (USN), founded on the strong defence relations between Singapore and the US. Both navies interact regularly through a series of bilateral and multilateral exercises, professional exchanges and cross-attendance of courses. These regular interactions have enhanced cooperation and mutual understanding between the two navies, and were also good opportunities to deepen personal and professional ties.
