Minister for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing met his counterparts from Thailand and Vietnam on the sidelines of the 22nd Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD) today.
During the call with Thailand Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Phumtham Wechayachai, both Ministers reaffirmed the close and longstanding bilateral defence relations between Singapore and Thailand. They also discussed ways to further enhance defence cooperation in areas of mutual interest, and emphasised the importance of strengthening our regional security architecture through the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) and ADMM-plus.
During the call with Vietnam Minister of National Defence General (GEN) Phan Van Giang, both Ministers reaffirmed the warm and friendly bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and Vietnam. They also exchanged views on ways to deepen defence cooperation, since elevating diplomatic relations between both countries to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2025.
