Singapore will host the 17th Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD) from 1 to 3 June 2018. Organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), this year’s Dialogue will see more than 40 Ministerial-level delegates attending the Dialogue, almost double that of 2017. Also attending are close to 30 Chiefs of Defence Forces and senior defence officials, as well as prominent academics from 43 countries. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the Keynote Speaker for the SLD this year. President Halimah Yacob will also host delegates to a dinner at the Istana on 2 June 2018 on the sidelines of SLD.
Singapore Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen will speak at the fifth plenary session on 3 June 2018 on the topic "Raising the Bar for Regional Security Cooperation". As part of the SLD, Dr Ng will host visiting Ministers to Roundtable discussions on 2 and 3 June 2018. Dr Ng will conduct bilateral meetings with Ministers and senior officials from several countries on the sidelines of the SLD. Singapore will also be concluding bilateral agreements with our defence partners.
The SLD was established in 2002, and serves as the premier defence and security conference in the Asia-Pacific region.
