Crown Prince of Brunei Darussalam Visits SAFTI City

Senior Minister of State for Defence Zaqy Mohamad hosted His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office of Brunei Darussalam, to a visit at SAFTI City this morning. His Royal Highness is in Singapore on an official visit from 28 September to 2 October 2026 for the 12th Singapore-Brunei Young Leaders' Programme. Also present at the visit was Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Dato Mohammed Riza. They were accompanied by Chief of Defence Force Vice-Admiral Aaron Beng, as well as senior officials from Singapore and Brunei Darussalam.

During the visit, His Royal Highness was briefed on how SAFTI City supports realistic and complex urban training for the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). As part of the programme, His Royal Highness toured the facility, observed a range of demonstration including a simulation on battlefield effects, and fired the Singapore Assault Rifle 21 and SAKO TRG-22 Sniper Rifle . His Royal Highness also viewed an indoor flight demonstration of an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) drone, as well as static displays of SAFTI City’s training systems.

His Royal Highness' visit underscores the close and long-standing defence relationship between Singapore and Brunei Darussalam, as both countries commemorate the 50th anniversary of defence relations this year. Over the past five decades, the SAF and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces have interacted regularly through high-level visits, professional exchanges, and bilateral and multilateral exercises. These interactions have strengthened cooperation and deepened mutual understanding between personnel of both armed forces. Singapore remains committed to building on this strong foundation and further strengthen our defence relationship with Brunei Darussalam in the years ahead.
