The Commanding General of the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) General (GEN) Robert Brown called on Senior Minister of State for Defence Mr Ong Ye Kung at the Ministry of Defence this afternoon. Mr Ong and GEN Brown reaffirmed the long-standing defence relationship between Singapore and the US and looked forward to deeper army-to-army cooperation.
GEN Brown, who is in Singapore on an introductory visit from 29 September to 1 October 2016, also called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General (LG) Perry Lim and Chief of Army Major-General (MG) Melvyn Ong after inspecting a Guard of Honour. GEN Brown will visit the Multi-Mission Range Complex later this afternoon.
GEN Brown's visit underscores the excellent and long-standing bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and the United States. Apart from exercises, the Singapore Army and the USARPAC interact regularly through professional exchanges and the cross-attendance of courses. Beyond enhancing the professionalism and interoperability of the two armies, these interactions also strengthened the friendship and mutual understanding between their personnel.
