Senior Minister of State for Defence Dr Maliki Commends Operational Readiness of NSmen

Senior Minister of State for Defence Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman being briefed on the capabilities of the Battalion Casualty Station during the visit to 93 CSSB this afternoon.

Senior Minister of State for Defence Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman visited the Operationally Ready National Servicemen (NSmen) from the 93rd Combat Service Support Battalion (93 CSSB), 9th Singapore Division (9 Div) undergoing In-Camp Training (ICT) at Sungei Gedong Camp this afternoon.

During the visit, Dr Maliki was briefed on the capabilities of various platforms which the NSmen would operate during their ICT. These platforms include the Battalion Casualty Station and the Water Purification Unit. Dr Maliki commended the commitment, professionalism and operational readiness of the NSmen, and highlighted that National Service (NS) remains a cornerstone of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and Singapore’s defence. He said, "NS forms a very key component of our readiness to deploy in times of crises. It is very important for our NSmen to maintain a high level of combat readiness as well as operational capability, so as to always be ready for their mission.”

Dr Maliki also took the chance to interact with more than 60 employers who were visiting the unit’s training, and highlighted that the employers play an important role by supporting our NSmen in the defence of our country. He thanked the employers for their continued support for NS. He said, “Today’s demonstration is tantamount to the commitment, professionalism and dedication of all our NSmen. I am very confident that with the continued strong support from the families and employers, our NSmen will continue to focus on their training and their operations, and fulfil their duties in defending Singapore well.”

Dr Maliki was accompanied by Commander 9 Div/Chief Infantry Officer Colonel Andrew Lim and other senior commanders from the SAF.
