Singapore will host the 18th Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD) from 31 May to 2 June 2019. Organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), this year's Dialogue will see 33 Ministerial-level delegates and over 30 Chiefs of Defence Forces and senior defence officials, as well as prominent academics from 47 countries attending the Dialogue. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will deliver this year's Keynote Address in commemoration of Singapore's Bicentennial. President Halimah Yacob will also host delegates to a dinner at the Istana on 1 June 2019, on the sidelines of SLD.
Singapore Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen will speak at the sixth plenary session on 2 June 2019 on the topic "Ensuring a Resilient and Stable Region". As part of the SLD, Dr Ng will host visiting Ministers to Roundtable discussions on 1 and 2 June 2019. Dr Ng will also conduct bilateral meetings with Ministers and senior officials from several countries on the sidelines of the SLD.
The SLD was established in 2002, and serves as the premier defence and security conference in the Asia-Pacific region.
