Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army (RTA) General (GEN) Chalermchai Sitthisad, who is in Singapore for an introductory visit from 30 to 31 May 2017, called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence this afternoon. GEN Chalermchai also called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Perry Lim and Chief of Army Major-General (MG) Melvyn Ong earlier today, after inspecting a Guard of Honour. As part of his programme, GEN Chalermchai will co-officiate at the closing ceremony of Exercise Kocha Singa with MG Ong tomorrow.
GEN Chalermchai's visit underscores the close and long-standing defence ties between Singapore and Thailand. The Singapore Army and the RTA interact regularly through high-level visits, professional exchanges, courses and exercises. These interactions have bolstered the professionalism and mutual trust between both armies.
