Fact Sheet - Update on NS55 Campaign: Upcoming Initiatives to Commemorate 55 years of National Service

Background
Since 1967, over one million national servicemen have served with pride, dedication and strength to defend and safeguard Singapore. Their contributions to National Service (NS), along with the strong support of Singaporeans, have ensured that Singapore remains safe and secure. In commemoration of 55 years of NS (NS55), a series of initiatives have been organised to recognise the contributions of national servicemen and encourage Singaporeans to show their support for NS. Some of the upcoming initiatives for the months of July and August are as follows:
NS55 Recognition Package
The NS55 Recognition Package (RP) consists of $100 worth of NS55 credits and a one-year complimentary SAFRA or HomeTeamNS principal membership.
NS55 Credits
The NS55 credits will be disbursed progressively in batches to eligible past and present national servicemen through the LifeSG mobile application, from 1 Jul to 31 July 2022. Those eligible will be notified via SMS at their registered mobile number once the credits have been disbursed to them. They can then access their LifeSG mobile app to redeem the credits at any merchant that accepts payment by "Scan and Pay" via PayNow UEN QR or NETS QR. The credits are valid for one year upon issuance.
The NS55 credits will be disbursed digitally for an enhanced and more convenient experience for all eligible national servicemen.
Eligible national servicemen will be able to receive, carry and redeem these credits conveniently via their mobile devices, which reduces the likelihood of the credits being misplaced or lost like hardcopy vouchers.
The credits can be used at a broader range of merchants than before, as long as the merchants accept payment via PayNow UEN QR or NETS QR. Some of these merchants include heartland shops, hawkers, e-commerce merchants. Individuals may also choose to make payments to government agencies and educational institutions1 or donate their credits to charities online.
As a show of support for NS, merchants will also be offering additional discounts and promotions (see Annex A) when national servicemen redeem their NS recognition credits2 and show the LifeSG mobile app at their shops.
We are committed to helping all who are eligible to access and redeem their credits on the LifeSG mobile app. National servicemen can either contact the Ministry of Defence NS55 Call Centre (at 1800 723 6755 or at contactus@ns55.com.sg), Ministry of Home Affairs NS55 Call Centre (6708 6660 or submit an enquiry request at https://hometeamnshelp.zendesk.com), or approach digital ambassadors at the following locations should they face difficulty in accessing or redeeming their NS55 credits:
SG Digital community hubs located at selected community centres and public libraries

Majestic Smart Seniors Applied Learning Centre
Hardcopy vouchers can be provided to national servicemen who have exhausted all means of assistance but are still unable to access or redeem their credits via the LifeSG mobile app. National servicemen may contact the NS55 Call Centre to request for hardcopy vouchers.
SAFRA or HomeTeamNS Membership
Eligible national servicemen will receive a notification letter from MINDEF or MHA at their registered address from mid-June 2022. They may register for e-membership using the QR code or link provided in the letter from 1 July 2022 to 31 December 2022. Applications will be processed by SAFRA or HomeTeamNS within six to eight weeks.
We Support NS Campaign
The We Support NS (WSNS) Campaign demonstrates the community's collective support for NS and acknowledges the contributions of national servicemen to the defence and security of Singapore. Organised by ACCORD, the campaign is an avenue for different segments of the community to come together to show their gratitude in their own unique way. In this year's WSNS Campaign, merchants, hawkers, retailers and community partners will be coming forward to show their appreciation to our national servicemen across both the Singapore Armed Forces and Home Team by offering a wide selection of deals and discounts as well as holding ground-up activities in the month of July and August. Members of the public can also download online resources for activities and ways to show appreciation to national servicemen. For more information on the WSNS campaign, visit go.gov.sg/wsns.
NS55 Family Photo Challenge
The #NS55FamilyPhotoChallenge is currently ongoing on PIONEER's social media platforms. National servicemen are encouraged to share photos and stories that bring back fond NS memories for them or their families. To participate, simply follow the steps below:
STEP 1: Post a photo related to your NS experience on your Facebook or Instagram profile
STEP 2: Tag PIONEER's Facebook or Instagram profile, and hashtag #NS55FamilyPhotoChallenge and #NS55
STEP 3: Make sure your post is set to 'Public'
STEP 4: Each photo can be submitted: i) With a caption or quote OR ii) With a short writeup (max 55 words)
The contest will run on Facebook and Instagram from June to October. Five winners will be selected every month to win $55 worth of Grab vouchers each. For more information on the photo challenge, visit go.gov.sg/NS55fpc.
NS55 Theme Song
Dedicated to past and present national servicemen, the NS55 theme song titled 'Back in the Day', captures references about the good old days of serving NS through the generations. National servicemen were involved in all production aspects of the song and accompanying music video. The song and music video will be available for viewing on MINDEFsg's social media platforms from 1 July 2022, 12pm, and for listening on various music streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music subsequently.
Interactive Trail – Cepat Jalan
The NS55 Interactive Trail, titled 'Cepat Jalan' will go live on 1 August 2022 and will be available for members of the public to experience till 31 July 2023. The 3.3km trail comprises seven discovery points in central Singapore that bear significance to NS, such as Clemenceau Ave, Civilian War Memorial and The Float @ Marina Bay. The virtual trail, comprising the same discovery points as the physical trail and with five additional locations, will be launched on 19 August 2022.

1This will be the first time that credits disbursed for NS milestone years like NS55 can be used for payment to e-commerce merchants, government agencies and educational institutions.
