Chief of Defence of the Republic of Lithuania Makes Working Visit to Singapore

The Chief of Defence of the Republic of Lithuania General (GEN) Raimundas Vaikšnoras called on Minister for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing this morning at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF).

The Chief of Defence of the Republic of Lithuania General (GEN) Raimundas Vaikšnoras called on Minister for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing this morning at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF). During their meeting, Mr Chan and GEN Vaikšnoras reaffirmed the warm and growing defence relations between Singapore and Lithuania. They also exchanged views on geopolitical developments in Europe and Asia, and discussed mutual areas of interest for defence cooperation. Of note, the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN)’s Offshore Patrol Vessels are being built in Lithuania.
GEN Vaikšnoras is in Singapore from 31 January to 4 February 2026 for a working visit. He also called on Chief of Defence Force Vice Admiral Aaron Beng at MINDEF earlier today. As part of his visit, GEN Vaikšnoras also witnessed the launch of Exercise SG Ready, a Total Defence (TD) exercise that is currently running from 1 February till TD Day on 15 February. GEN Vaikšnoras also spoke to MINDEF/SAF officials during the Distinguished Leaders Dialogue at the Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College, where he shared insights on the evolving security challenges in the European region. GEN Vaikšnoras will also visit the Singapore Airshow and the SAF Volunteer Corps.
