Minister for Defence Strengthens Defence Ties with Counterparts on First Day of 23rd Shangri-La Dialogue

Vietnam Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General (GEN) Phan Van Giang met with Minister for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing this evening on the sidelines of the 23rd Shangri-La Dialogue.

Indonesia Vice-Minister of Defense Donny Ermawan Taufanto met with Minister for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing this afternoon on the sidelines of the 23rd Shangri-La Dialogue.

Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Nurlan Yermekbayev met with Minister for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing this afternoon on the sidelines of the 23rd Shangri-La Dialogue.

Minister for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing met with the United States Congressional Delegation led by Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-Illinois) which also included Senator Pete Ricketts (R-Nebraska).

Minister for Defence, Mr Chan Chun Sing met his counterparts on the sidelines of the 23rd Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD) today, including Defence Ministers and representatives from Vietnam and Indonesia.

During the call with Vietnam Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General (GEN) Phan Van Giang, both Ministers reaffirmed the warm and friendly bilateral defence relations between both countries.

During the call with Indonesian Vice-Minister of Defense Donny Ermawan Taufanto, both Ministers reaffirmed the close and longstanding defence relationship between Singapore and Indonesia. They exchanged views on regional developments, took stock of ongoing cooperation under the Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA), and noted the good progress of the co-development initiatives.

In addition, Mr Chan also met the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Nurlan Yermekbayev, and the United States Congressional Delegation led by Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-Illinois) which also included Senator Pete Ricketts (R-Nebraska).
