French Minister for the Armed Forces and Veterans Catherine Vautrin is in Singapore to attend the 23rd Shangri-La Dialogue. As part of her visit, she called on Prime Minister (PM) and Minister for Finance, Lawrence Wong at the Istana today.
During their meeting, PM Wong and Minister Vautrin reaffirmed the substantive and broad-based relationship between Singapore and France, particularly in the areas of military training, defence technology, and cybersecurity. They also exchanged views on global and regional security challenges, and discussed how both sides can strengthen defence cooperation.
This builds on the significant milestone achieved last year when PM Wong and French President Emmanuel Macron upgraded Singapore-France bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, as we celebrated the 60th anniversary of our diplomatic relations.
Minister Vautrin will meet with Minister for Defence, Mr Chan Chun Sing at the Shangri-La Hotel tomorrow.
