Second Minister for Defence Meets with Japanese State Minister of Defense

Second Minister for Defence Mr Ong Ye Kung is visiting Japan from 26 to 30 November 2017, at the invitation of the Japanese Government. As part of his visit, Mr Ong met with Japanese State Minister of Defense Mr Tomohiro Yamamoto at the Japan Ministry of Defense earlier this afternoon. During the meeting, Mr Ong and Mr Yamamoto reaffirmed the warm and friendly defence relationship between Singapore and Japan, and exchanged views on regional and international security developments.
As part of his visit, Mr Ong also met with Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Taro Kono; Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Mr Yoshimasa Hayashi; Governor of Tokyo Ms Yuriko Koike; and representatives from the Japan-Singapore Parliamentary Friendship League. Mr Ong visited Kawada Robotics and NEC Space Systems, where he learnt more about research and innovation in Japan and Japanese efforts in the area of future technology, as well as Nikkei to learn about the media landscape in Japan. He will visit the Panasonic Fujisawa Smart City tomorrow.
