Minister for Defence Meets Information Experts Participating in Tech Summit

Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen met international technology experts for a breakfast meeting today. The experts are in Singapore to participate in the 2nd Singapore Defence Technology Summit (Tech Summit), organised by the Defence Science and Technology Agency from 26 to 28 June 2019. 

Dr Ng met with experts Dr Brian Pierce, Office Director of the Information Innovation Office at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, US Department of Defense; Mr Amir Husain, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SparkCognition; Mr Tim Hwang, Director of the Harvard-Massachusetts Institute of Technology Ethics and Governance of Artificial Intelligence Initiative; and Brigadier-General (Reserve) Professor Jacob Nagel, Visiting Professor at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. During the meeting, they discussed threats in the information space and the approaches to address them. 

The Tech Summit brings together some 400 global thought leaders including leading defence technology policymakers, national armament directors, chief technology officers, industry chief executive officers, academics and entrepreneurs. The theme for this year's summit is the Proliferation of Technology and its Implications on Defence, Security and Society.
