The German Chief of Air Force Lieutenant General (Lt. Gen.) Ingo Gerhartz called on Senior Minister of State for Defence Mr Zaqy Mohamad at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this afternoon. During their meeting, Mr Zaqy and Lt. Gen. Gerhartz reaffirmed the warm and growing defence relations between Singapore and Germany. They exchanged views on geopolitical developments and strengthening bilateral defence cooperation in areas of mutual interest. They also discussed Germany's future engagement of the Asia-Pacific region and how the two countries could work together to uphold the international rules-based order.
Lt. Gen. Gerhartz, who is in Singapore from 26 to 28 September 2022 for his introductory visit, also called on Chief of Air Force Major-General Kelvin Khong and inspected the Guard of Honour in MINDEF, prior to calling on Mr Zaqy.
Singapore and Germany cooperate and interact consistently through high-level visits and dialogues, military to military exchanges, cross attendance of professional courses, as well as technology collaboration. These interactions have reinforced the professional ties between the two defence establishments, underpinned by the enhanced Defence Cooperation Agreement signed in 2018.
