The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army (RTA) General (GEN) Narongpan Jittkaewtae called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this morning. During their meeting, Dr Ng and GEN Narongpan reaffirmed the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Thailand, and discussed ways to further defence cooperation between the Singapore Army and the RTA.
GEN Narongpan, who is in Singapore from 25 to 27 May 2022 for an introductory visit, also called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Melvyn Ong and Chief of Army Brigadier-General David Neo after inspecting the Guard of Honour at MINDEF. GEN Narongpan will visit the Army Open House 2022 this afternoon.
GEN Narongpan's visit underscores the close and long-standing bilateral defence ties between Singapore and Thailand. Both Armies interact regularly through high-level visits, professional exchanges, courses and bilateral exercises. These interactions have deepened mutual understanding between both the Singapore Army and the RTA, and strengthened people-to-people ties between personnel.
