Officers, Military Experts, Warrant Officers and Defence Executive Officers Recognised in MINDEF/SAF Promotion Ceremonies

The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) are promoting 647 uniformed Service Personnel from MINDEF Headquarters, Army, Navy and Air Force to the next higher rank this year. These promoted personnel include Regulars and Operationally Ready National Servicemen.

At a scaled-down promotion ceremony held at MINDEF this morning, Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen presented certificates to personnel promoting to the ranks of Brigadier-General (BG) and Rear-Admiral (RADM)(One-Star), Military Expert 7 (ME7) and Chief Warrant Officer (CWO). Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General (LG) Melvyn Ong also presented certificates to personnel promoted to the ranks of Colonel (COL) and COL(National Service).

Personnel promoted to the ranks of Senior Lieutenant Colonel (SLTC), Lieutenant Colonel (LTC), ME6, Senior Warrant Officer (SWO) and Master Warrant Officer (MWO), received their certificates from their respective Service Chiefs at decentralised promotion ceremonies.

A virtual promotion ceremony for DXOs and civilians will be held on 30 Jun to recognise the contributions of MINDEF/SAF's non-uniformed personnel. The first-ever promotion ceremony to be hosted virtually in MINDEF/SAF will see 332 non-uniformed promotees attending the event with their family members.

The annual promotion exercise is part of the ongoing effort to recognise, reward and groom officers, military experts, warrant officers, DXOs and civilians who have performed well and demonstrated potential to contribute further to MINDEF/SAF. All promotions will take effect from 1 July 2020.
