Dr Maliki attended the soft launch of the Our Eyes Initiative (OEI), hosted by Indonesian Minister of Defence General (GEN) (Rtd) Ryamizard Ryacudu in Bali this morning.
The soft launch of the OEI involved six countries, namely Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Through the OEI, involved countries will explore ways to exchange strategic information on terrorism, radicalism and violent extremism which will aid regional counter-terrorism efforts. The representatives of the involved countries proposed a Joint Statement for adoption at a later date. The Joint Statement reflects the countries' commitment to the sharing of strategic information on counter-terrorism. The representatives also observed a press conference held by GEN (Rtd) Ryamizard following the launch.
