Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy Makes Introductory Visit to Singapore

Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy (RTN) ADM Pairote Fuangchan called on Minister for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing this morning at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF). During their meeting, Mr Chan and ADM Pairote reaffirmed the close and longstanding defence relations between Singapore and Thailand, and encouraged deeper bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and RTN. Mr Chan and ADM Pairote also exchanged views on regional security developments.

ADM Pairote is in Singapore for an introductory visit from 23 to 25 February 2026. He also called on Chief of Defence Force Vice Admiral Aaron Beng, after inspecting the Guard of Honour at MINDEF. As part of his visit, ADM Pairote also visited RSS Singapura – Changi Naval Base, where he called on Chief of Navy Rear Admiral Sean Wat and was briefed on the RSN’s latest developments, including RSN’s unmanned capabilities.

ADM Pairote’s visit underscores the strong defence ties between Singapore and Thailand. The RSN and the RTN interact regularly through high-level visits, mutual port calls, professional exchanges and cross-attendance of courses. The two navies also interact through exercises such as the bilateral Exercise Singsiam and multinational Exercise Cobra Gold. These regular interactions have deepened mutual understanding and strengthened cooperation between both navies.
