Minister for Defence Chan Chun Sing hosted a reception today to thank participating organisations, sponsors, and key appointment holders of the National Day Parade (NDP) 2026 Executive Committee.

Minister for Defence Chan Chun Sing hosted a reception today to thank participating organisations, sponsors, and key appointment holders of the National Day Parade (NDP) 2026 Executive Committee. A total of 27 Gold Award recipients, 109 Principal Partners, 65 Silver Award recipients, 75 Major Partners, and 256 Co-partners were recognised for their contributions and support for this year’s NDP. Minister Chan presented awards to the Gold Award recipients and Principal Partners, and Chief of Defence Force Vice Admiral Aaron Beng presented awards to the Silver Award recipients, Major Partners and Co-partners during the Appreciation Function held at D’Marquee.
In his speech, Minister Chan expressed appreciation to everyone, including all participants and volunteers, who came together to make NDP 2026 a success. He thanked the people behind the scenes for their commitment and dedication to the national celebration. He said, “There are 42,000 spectators in the Stadium, but there are more than 10,000 people behind everything happening in the Stadium. Some of them are taking care of the logistics, the food, taking care of each and every one that comes through the Stadium. Some of them are deployed forward beyond the Stadium, managing the crowd. Some of them are deployed even further, and they never see the NDP themselves because they are on the outer cordon, making sure that Singapore can celebrate NDP in peace, and that everyone who joined the parade can have a peace of mind that nothing untoward will happen to us.”
This year’s NDP theme Majulah Singapura, Go Beyond! highlights our Singapore Spirit and our enduring aspirations to move forward and progress. Recognising the efforts to bring a fresh, immersive and inclusive NDP for all Singaporeans, he said, “This year, there was a conscious decision that we will be more inclusive to highlight and showcase members of the differently enabled community… it would have been easy for the NDP organising committee to go back to the tried and tested. That would have been easy to do. But we did not choose to do that. You did not choose to do that. Instead, we were prepared to try new ideas, to explore new frontiers, and then to see whether they work or not. This spirit of being willing and daring to try new things is something invaluable.”
Minister Chan also announced that NDP 2027 will be held at the Padang to commemorate 60 years of National Service (NS60). He said “When you go back to the Padang, it is easy for us to do the tried and tested, but we want every NDP to be special. We want every NDP to be able to break new ground, to show the world what we are capable of, and not just what we are used to, and what we are familiar with… We look forward to all your participation, all your contributions to make next year – NS60, another special year for fellow Singaporeans.”
