



Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen hosted the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, His Majesty Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah to a visit at the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF)'s Sembawang Air Base this afternoon. His Majesty was accompanied by Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Amin Liew Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Erywan Yusof, Minister of Education Datin Romaizah Salleh, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Major-General Dato Haszaimi and other senior Brunei officials. Also present at the visit were Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Minister-in-Attendance Mr Edwin Tong, Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Melvyn Ong and Chief of Air Force Major-General Kelvin Khong.
At Sembawang Air Base, His Majesty was briefed on the RSAF, and took a familiarisation flight on board an RSAF H225M Medium Lift Helicopter. He also viewed a static display of the Aster 30 Missile System.
His Majesty is in Singapore on a two-day State Visit from 24 to 25 August 2022. His Majesty's visit to the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) underscores the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Brunei. The SAF and RBAF interact regularly through bilateral exercises, professional exchanges, visits and cross-attendance of courses. These exchanges have enhanced the professionalism of both armed forces and strengthened the friendship and ties between their personnel.
