Reply To Media Query on Amos Yee NS Default Case

MINDEF is unable to comment on whether there have been discussions between the US and Singapore authorities regarding Amos Yee’s deportation following his release from prison. Amos Yee has committed offences under the Enlistment Act, including failing to report for pre-enlistment medical screening and remaining outside of Singapore without a valid Exit Permit. Enlistment Act offenders are liable on conviction to a fine of up to $10,000 and/or imprisonment of up to 3 years. Yee will be charged for his offences upon his return to Singapore.
