Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth Mr Baey Yam Keng, reviewed the 29th Specialist Graduation Parade at Pasir Laba Camp this evening. A total of 1,018 Specialist Cadets (SCTs) comprising 932 from the Singapore Army, 50 from the Republic of Singapore Navy, and 36 from the Republic of Singapore Air force graduated as Specialists of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).
Addressing the graduands at the parade, Mr Baey spoke about the challenging roles and increased responsibilities of the Specialist Corps in the 3rd Generation SAF. He said "As Singaporeans, and even more so as leaders in the SAF, your role extends beyond the battlefield to the hearts and minds of your soldiers. It is your duty to help the soldiers you lead understand why we need a strong defence, and why their commitment to our nation's defence is critical. Your contributions, on and off the battlefield, will strengthen the resilience of our people, helping to keep Singapore secure in this uncertain security environment."
The graduation parade marked the completion of the 22-week Specialist Cadet Course, where the graduands trained under rigorous and realistic conditions to develop leadership and combat skills, and deepen their understanding of the other vocations in the SAF. Present at the parade were families and friends of the graduands and senior SAF officers.
