10th IISS Shangri-La Dialogue Sherpa Meeting Takes Place at Fullerton Hotel

The 10th International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD) Sherpa Meeting takes place from 23 to 25 January 2022 at the Fullerton Hotel, with senior defence officials, military officers, and academics from 19 countries and regional groupings attending. Delegates will exchange views on topics such as defence diplomacy in the region, emerging technologies, and common interests in the maritime domain.

The SLD Sherpa Meeting strengthens the SLD process by providing an inter-sessional platform for delegates to engage in frank and closed-door discussions on current defence and security issues. The conduct of the SLD Sherpa Meeting sets the stage for the relaunch of the SLD after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Widely recognised as Asia-Pacific's foremost defence and security summit, the SLD brings together defence ministers, senior officials and security experts to engage in discussions on key issues that shape the defence and security landscape of the region. This year's SLD is scheduled to take place from 10 to 12 Jun 2022 as an in-person event.

All participants attending the SLD Sherpa Meeting are fully vaccinated and required to abide by strict health and safety measures put in place to guard against COVID-19. These measures include daily pre-event Antigen Rapid Testing to ensure that all physical attendees are free from infection. Stringent precautionary measures such as safe distancing, mask-wearing, and regular disinfection of common areas are also enforced.
