Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Teo Chee Hean, who is in the US to attend the Sedona Forum, visited the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF)'s Peace Carvin (PC) II F-16C/D detachment at Luke Air Force Base (AFB), Arizona earlier this morning (Singapore Time).
DPM Teo, who was accompanied by the United States Air Force (USAF) 56th Fighter Wing Commander of Luke AFB Brigadier General Brook Leonard and PC II Detachment Commander Lieutenant-Colonel Kenneth Lim, toured the detachment's facilities and was briefed on its training programme. DPM Teo conveyed his appreciation for the dedication and commitment of the RSAF detachment personnel, and encouraged them to continue to train hard and fly the Singapore flag high.
During the visit, DPM Teo interacted with the RSAF personnel and their families over games and lunch, and thanked the families of the RSAF servicemen and women at Luke AFB for their strong support.
Established in 1993, PC II is the RSAF's longest-running overseas detachment. Training in the US allows the RSAF to overcome Singapore's airspace constraints and to hone air combat skills and operational competencies in a realistic and challenging training environment.
The RSAF's aircrew and ground crew also participate regularly in various exercises and competitions to hone their operational skills and competencies alongside their US counterparts. These interactions attest to the excellent and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and the US, and enhance the interoperability and people-to-people ties between both countries' air forces.
