Senior Minister of State for Environment and Water Resources & Health, Dr Amy Khor Lean Suan, inspecting the parade at the 33rd Specialist Cadet Graduation Parade at Pasir Laba Camp.
Senior Minister of State for the Environment and Water Resources & Health, Dr Amy Khor Lean Suan, reviewed the 33rd Specialist Cadet Graduation Parade at Pasir Laba Camp this evening. A total of 785 Specialist Cadets comprising 737 from the Singapore Army, 21 from the Republic of Singapore Navy and 27 from the Republic of Singapore Air Force graduated as Specialists of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).
Addressing the graduands at the parade, Dr Khor reminded them of how National Service (NS) has fulfilled Singapore's critical need for defence and security for the past 50 years. She said, "This year, we pay tribute to those who came before us, the more than a million Singaporeans who have served NS over the past 50 years. Decades of hard work, sacrifice, and commitment by generations of National Servicemen have built the SAF to what it is today - advanced, effective, and capable. The baton has now been passed to you, the next generation, to serve our country with pride and honour." Dr Khor also highlighted the important role that Specialists will play as leaders in the SAF to defend the nation from the threats that lie ahead. "As Specialists, you are responsible for leading and training the men and women under your charge, and to inspire them to serve… As leaders in the SAF, you will unify your soldiers as Singaporeans who, regardless of race, language or religion, will band together to overcome setbacks together. Lead by example with conviction and engage them sincerely, and with compassion," she said.
The graduation parade marked the completion of the 22-week Specialist Cadet Course, where the graduands trained under rigorous and realistic conditions to develop leadership and combat skills, and deepen their understanding of the other vocations in the SAF. Present at the parade were families and friends of the graduands and senior SAF officers.
