MINDEF/SAF's first medical advisory on the viral pneumonia outbreak in Wuhan was disseminated on 3 Jan 2020 to service personnel, advising those with flu-like symptoms to seek medical attention and highlight their travel history to their unit medical officers.
A second medical advisory, disseminated on 21 Jan 2020, reiterated information from the first advisory and also reminded personnel to remain vigilant, adopt good personal hygiene measures and regularly check MOH's websites for updates when travelling overseas.
Both medical advisories are in addition to current temperature-taking regime in the SAF to detect soldiers who are unwell before training. Soldiers with temperatures above 37.5 degrees Celsius will be sent for medical evaluation.
