Reply to Media Queries on State Courts' Verdict on SAF Serviceman Charged in Relation to Death of CFC Liu Kai

The Ministry of Defence notes that the State Courts have convicted Captain Ong Lin Jie, the Vehicle Commander of the Land Rover involved in the death of CFC Liu Kai, of an offence punishable under Section 304A(a) of the Penal Code, i.e., for causing death by a rash act, on 22 November 2021.
The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) has reminded commanders that they are held accountable for the safety of personnel under their charge and must adhere to training safety regulations. Those who are negligent or breach training safety regulations may face prosecution under the law or the SAF's disciplinary framework.
