Royal Thai Army Chief Makes Introductory Visit to Singapore

Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, General (GEN) Apirat Kongsompong calling on Senior Minister of State for Defence Mr Heng Chee How at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this morning.
Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army (RTA) General (GEN) Apirat Kongsompong called on Senior Minister of State for Defence Mr Heng Chee How at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this morning. During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Thailand. Mr Heng also expressed Singapore's support for Thailand's 2019 ASEAN Chairmanship.
GEN Apirat, who is in Singapore for an introductory visit from 21 to 23 May 2019, also called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Melvyn Ong and Chief of Army Major-General (MG) Goh Si Hou, after reviewing a Guard of Honour at MINDEF. GEN Apirat will co-officiate at the closing ceremony of Exercise Kocha Singa with MG Goh tomorrow.
GEN Apirat's visit underscores the strong bilateral defence ties between Singapore and Thailand. Both armies interact regularly through high-level visits, professional exchanges, courses and exercises. Such interactions have enhanced the professionalism and mutual trust between both armies.
