General (GEN) Mao Sophan, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, called on Minister of State for Defence Mr Desmond Choo this afternoon. Mr Choo and GEN Mao Sophan reaffirmed the warm and friendly bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and Cambodia. Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international security issues of mutual interest.
GEN Mao Sophan, who is in Singapore for an introductory visit from 21 to 23 October 2025, also called on Chief of Defence Force Vice-Admiral Aaron Beng and Chief of Army Major-General Cai Dexian, after reviewing a Guard of Honour at MINDEF this morning. As part of his programme, GEN Mao Sophan visited the 9th Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment, where he observed a dynamic display of security incident responses, and viewed a static display featuring electric all-terrain vehicles, tactical response pistols, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
GEN Mao Sophan’s visit underscores the warm and friendly bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and Cambodia. Both sides interact regularly through high-level visits and professional interactions between the Singapore Armed Forces and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, as well as through multilateral platforms like the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) and ADMM-Plus.
