The Chief of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) General (GEN) Tan Sri Dato' Sri Roslan bin Saad called on Senior Minister of State for Defence Dr Mohammad Maliki bin Osman at the Ministry of Defence this morning. GEN Roslan, who is in Singapore on a farewell visit from 20 to 21 Oct 2016, had earlier called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Perry Lim and Chief of Air Force Major-General Mervyn Tan after inspecting a Guard of Honour.
GEN Roslan's visit underscores the warm and long-standing defence ties shared between Singapore and Malaysia, as well as the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and the RMAF. Both Air Forces interact regularly through professional exchanges, and exercises under the ambit of the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA). More recently, RSAF and RMAF conducted fighter land-aways at each other's air bases during the FPDA Exercise Bersama Lima 2016, which concludes today. Both Air Forces, together with Indonesia and Thailand, also conduct Eyes-in-the-Sky combined maritime air patrols to enhance the security in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore.
