Minister of State, Ministry of Social and Family Development and Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr Goh Pei Ming inspected the 67th Specialist Cadet Graduation Parade at Pasir Laba Camp this evening. A total of 1057 graduands – 919 from the Army, 33 from the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN), 18 from the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), and 88 from the Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS), graduated as Specialists and Military Experts of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).
Addressing the graduands at the parade, Mr Goh highlighted the SAF’s myriad of efforts to tackle evolving threats. He said, “These operations reflect the SAF’s enduring commitment to defend Singapore and our way of life. The challenges we face will continue to evolve, but our responsibility remains unchanged. The SAF must remain ready to respond swiftly and decisively whenever called upon”.
Underscoring both the importance of Specialists in the SAF and people in defending the nation, Mr Goh said, “The SAF draws its strength not only from advanced platforms or sophisticated systems. These are important enablers, but they do not fight on their own, nor are they the entirety of the SAF. Our true strength lies in our people – the professionalism, resilience, and commitment of our people...The ranks you [Specialist and Military Expert graduands] are about to don are not merely symbols. They embody the trust that the SAF has placed in you – the trust that you will inspire confidence in and care for every serviceman and woman under your charge, and the trust that you will act decisively to protect Singapore and safeguard our sovereignty when called upon”.
The graduation parade marked the completion of the 22-week Specialist Cadet Course for graduands from the Singapore Army, the RSN, the RSAF and the DIS, where they trained under rigorous and realistic conditions to sharpen their respective vocation expertise. The newly graduated Specialists and Military Experts will go on to assume command, training and staff appointments in the SAF. Present at the parade were senior SAF commanders, as well as families and friends of the graduands.
