Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Digital Development and Information and Ministry of Health, Mr Tan Kiat How inspected the 66th Specialist Cadet Graduation Parade at Pasir Laba Camp this evening. A total of 1020 graduands comprising 778 from the Singapore Army, 77 from the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN), 47 from the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), and 118 from the Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS), graduated as Specialists and Military Experts of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).
Addressing the graduands at the parade, Mr Tan underscored the critical role of leadership amidst Singapore’s evolving security needs and the SAF’s digital transformation. He said, “At the heart of these advanced systems is not the technology, but the disciplined and dedicated teams that operate them. Teams comprising individuals with the skills and conviction to discharge their duties, led by courageous, capable and caring leaders. Starting today, you will be stepping into those shoes to lead these teams. Your responsibility will be to inspire, motivate and fight alongside them. Your leadership matters.”
Highlighting the diversity of talents contributing to Singapore’s defence, Mr Tan said, “Each of you has different life experiences and may hold different beliefs and aspirations. You reflect the diversity that is Singapore. Yet there is immense strength in this diversity. The men and women that you lead will also be diverse. You must harness this strength.”
The graduation parade marked the completion of the 22-week Specialist Cadet Course for graduands from the Singapore Army, the RSN, the RSAF and the DIS, where they trained under rigorous and realistic conditions to sharpen their respective vocation expertise. The newly graduated Specialists and Military Experts will go on to assume command, training and staff appointments in the SAF. Present at the parade were senior SAF commanders, as well as families and friends of the graduands.
