The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF)’s F-15SG and F-16C fighter aircraft will be demonstrating its capabilities in an aerial display at the RSAF Open House 2016.
The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Open House 2016 is returning to Paya Lebar Air Base (PLAB) on 21 and 22 May, abuzz with fun-filled activities for visitors! Themed "Defending Our Skies", visitors to the Open House will be treated to action-packed aerial displays and capabilities demonstrations, an interactive exhibition gallery that showcases the RSAF’s transformation, aircraft rides as well as opportunities to interact with airmen and women, and get up close and personal with the Air Force’s latest aircraft and weapon systems.
The RSAF Open House will feature thrilling aerial displays by the RSAF's F-15SG and F-16C multi-role fighter aircraft, capabilities demonstration of the ground-based air defence systems that form part of the RSAF’s multi-layered air defence, as well as air-land operations involving the AH-64D Apache attack helicopters and CH-47 Chinook helicopters. Other exciting demonstrations include fighter aircraft arming operations by the RSAF weapon load crew, security and enforcement operations conducted by the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Military Working Dog Unit, as well as performances by the SAF Red Lions Parachute Team.
Besides aerial displays and ground demonstrations, there will also be more than 20 types of aircraft and weapon systems on static display. These include the F-15SG and F-16D+ fighter aircraft, Chinook and Seahawk helicopters, Hermes 450 and Heron-1 Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, and the Surface-to-air PYthon-5 and DERby (SPYDER) ground-based air defence systems.
Visitors can also take a tour of the RSAF Pavilion, an exhibition gallery that features the RSAF's history and transformation, its full spectrum operations, as well as stories of its airmen and women in action. They can also try their hand at the various aircraft and weapon system simulators, as well as other aviation-related games.
Chairman of the Organising Committee, Brigadier-General (BG) Neo Hong Keat, sees the RSAF Open House as a good opportunity for the public to gain a better understanding of the RSAF. "Visitors can learn more about our Air Force's capabilities at the Open House. Our airmen and women are looking forward to interacting with members of the public and sharing their roles and experiences in defending Singapore’s skies," said BG Neo.
The RSAF Open House is open to the public on 21 and 22 May, from 9:00am to 6:00pm. Admission is free. As public parking will not be available at PLAB, visitors are advised to take the free shuttle buses from Eunos Bus Interchange and Kovan Hub, public bus service 90, or taxis registered with the Land Transport Authority.
