The Malaysian Chief of Navy, Admiral (ADM) Dato' Seri Panglima Ahmad Kamarulzaman bin Haji Ahmad Badaruddin, called on Minister for Defence, Dr Ng Eng Hen, at the Ministry of Defence this morning. ADM Kamarulzaman, who is in Singapore for an introductory visit from 14 to 17 February 2016, also called on Chief of Defence Force Major-General Perry Lim and Chief of Navy Rear-Admiral Lai Chung Han earlier today after inspecting a Guard of Honour.
As part of his programme, ADM Kamarulzaman visited the Changi Regional Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Coordination Centre, and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN)'s Training Command on Monday. ADM Kamarulzaman also attended the Singapore Airshow 2016 (SA16)'s opening ceremony, and viewed the SA16 aerial displays yesterday.
ADM Kamarulzaman's visit underscores the warm and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Malaysia. The RSN and the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) interact regularly through bilateral exercises, visits, professional exchanges, and cross-attendance of courses, as well as through multilateral activities under the ambit of the Five Power Defence Arrangements. The two navies also work closely to enhance regional maritime security through the Malacca Strait Patrols. These interactions have contributed significantly towards strengthening mutual understanding and professional ties between the personnel of the two navies.
