The Chief of Defence Forces of the Royal Thai Armed Forces General (GEN) Sommai Kaotira called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen on the sidelines of the Singapore Airshow 2016 at the Changi Exhibition Centre (CEC) this morning. GEN Sommai, who is in Singapore for an introductory visit from 15 to 17 February 2016, also called on Chief of Defence Force Major-General (MG) Perry Lim as well as inspected a Guard of Honour at the Ministry of Defence on the first day of his visit. Earlier today, GEN Sommai also visited the Singapore Airshow 2016 at the CEC.
GEN Sommai's visit underscores the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Thailand. Both armed forces interact regularly through high-level visits, courses, professional exchanges and exercises such as the ongoing multilateral Exercise Cobra Gold, which is being held in Thailand from 9 to 19 February 2016. Such interactions have deepened friendships and mutual understanding between personnel of both armed forces.
