Singapore Reaffirms Defence Ties on Sidelines of Singapore Airshow 2016

Bruneian Deputy Minister of Defence Yang Mulia First Admiral (FADM) (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohammad Tamit called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Changi Exhibition Centre today, in conjunction with Singapore Airshow 2016 (SA16).
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the close and long-standing bilateral defence relationship, with Singapore and Brunei commemorating the 40th anniversary of defence ties this year. The Ministers also discussed initiatives to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation, including in counter-terrorism. As part of his visit to SA16, FADM (Rtd) Dato Aziz also viewed the aerial display and attended the SA16 opening ceremony.
Indonesian Defence Minister General (GEN) (Rtd) Ryamizard Ryacudu also visited SA16. Dr Ng will host GEN (Rtd) Ryamizard to a lunch on 17 February 2016.
Senior Ministers of State for Defence Mr Ong Ye Kung and Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman also received calls at the Changi Exhibition Centre today, in conjunction with SA16. They met with Malaysian Deputy Defence Minister Y.B. Dato' Wira Mohd. Johari bin Baharum, Thai Deputy Minister of Defence GEN Udomdej Sitabutr, United Kingdom's Minister of State for Defence Procurement Mr Philip Dunne, Italian Under Secretary of State for Defence Mr Gioacchino Alfano, Chief of Air Force of the Royal Australian Air Force Air Marshal Leo Davies, and Commander of the United States Pacific Air Forces GEN Lori Robinson.
