Minister for Defence Makes Working Visit to Indonesia

Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen is in Indonesia for a working visit from 28 to 29 September 2015. As part of the visit, Dr Ng called on Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs GEN (Rtd) Luhut Pandjaitan, and Indonesian Defence Minister GEN (Rtd) Ryamizard Ryacudu.
During Dr Ng's bilateral meeting with GEN (Rtd) Ryamizard, the Ministers reaffirmed the close and long standing bilateral defence relations between Indonesia and Singapore and discussed ways to enhance bilateral defence cooperation. They also discussed the haze situation in Indonesia, and Dr Ng reiterated that the Singapore Armed Forces stands ready to support Indonesia's haze mitigation efforts, if and when activated. Prior to their meeting, Dr Ng inspected a Guard of Honour with GEN (Rtd) Ryamizard.
Both defence establishments engage in regular professional exchanges and long standing bilateral exercises such as Exercise Elang Indopura, Exercise Safkar Indopura and Exercise Eagle Indopura. In addition, the two defence establishments also interact at multilateral forums such as the Shangri-La Dialogue, the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting (ADMM) and the ADMM-Plus.
